The space shuttle Atlantis is one of mankind' s greatest creations and has made a lasting mark in the history of space conquest. The brick model perfectly complements the COBI Historical Collection. The carefully designed set includes a model of the shuttle prepared in a scale of 1:100. Very good reproduction, high-quality prints, movable elements, access to the interior, the figure of the cosmonaut and a mini model of the Hubble telescope combine collectible and educational values. You can display the whole set with the included coasters containing signatures.
The construction of the set is simple. Intuitive instructions based on clear icons will help you through the entire process of satisfying construction with ease. Build the story, block by block, and create your own collection!
Atlantis (OV-104) is the fourth NASA shuttle to make a space flight. It was one of five reusable shuttles used to transport people and equipment into Earth orbit. The first flight took place on 3 October 1985. During its 26 years of service, Atlantis carried out 33 missions and spent 306 days in orbit around the Earth. The shuttle' s landing on 21 July 2011 after a successful resupply mission to the International Space Station ended the shuttle era. At the end of its service, Atlanits was transported to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex where it now serves as a museum.
The Hubble Space Telescope, which travels in low Earth orbit, is named after American astronomer Edwin Hubble. The telescope was launched into orbit around the Earth by the space shuttle Discovery on 24 April 1990. Since its launch, it has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy, providing an incredible amount of data. The shuttle Atlantis serviced the Hubble telescope during the STS-125 mission in 2009. During the mission, new instruments were delivered and necessary repairs were made.
