The EDELRID Ohm II (Oasis/Night) is an assisted-braking belay/resistor device designed to be clipped to the first bolt of a route. It increases braking assistance for rope teams with a large weight difference between belayer and climber, effectively adding about 25 kg (55 lbs) to the belayer side. It helps reduce the risk of the belayer being pulled up, reduces ground-impact risk for the climber, and makes lowering heavier climbers easier and more controlled. It does not add friction during normal, slow rope payout and activates by pinching the rope when the device angle changes rapidly during a fall. Rope compatibility: 8.9–11 mm (optimal ~9–9.5 mm). Materials include aluminium and steel with some polyamide and LDPE components.
